For twenty-five years Dr. LaHaye pastored a church in San Diego, California that eventually grew to three locations.  During that time he founded two accredited Christian high schools, a school system of ten Christian schools, and San Diego Christian College (formerly known as Christian Heritage College). Dr. LaHaye also assisted the late Dr. Henry Morris in the founding of the Institute for Creation Research, the nation’s foremost exponent of creationist materials.

Dr. LaHaye has written over sixty non-fiction books on a wide range of subjects such as: family life, individual temperaments, sexual adjustment, Bible prophecy, God’s will, Jesus Christ, and secular humanism. LaHaye’s works have been translated into more than 32 languages and distributed world-wide. His series of Left Behind fiction books have broken all publishing records with a total of 80 million in print. These books have appeared on the best-seller lists of The New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, and Christian Booksellers Association.  Based on the Bible’s book of Revelation, the apocalyptic thrillers follow the lives of those left behind after the sudden disappearance of millions of believers.

Expressing his passion for presenting End Times data to lay readers, the Tim LaHaye Prophecy Library was created, featuring prophecy books and materials authored or generally edited by Dr. LaHaye. The library includes such titles as, Charting the End Times, (with its own Study Guide), The Popular Encyclopedia of Bible Prophecy, Understanding Bible Prophecy for Yourself, The Rapture, Global Warning, and the Tim LaHaye Prophecy Study Bible.  

Dr. LaHaye holds a D.Min. degree from Western Theological Seminary and the Doctor of Literature degree from Liberty University. He and his wife, Beverly have been married more than 60 years, she is founder and chairman of the board of Concerned Women for America. Together they have 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
